  • Sacred Heart International School library actively encourages students to read books and library hours are part of the curriculum.

    We have a well-stocked library and a reading hall to promote reading habits among the students.

    The main purpose of the library is to help every member of the school community – students, staff and families – gain new knowledge, skills and improve personality development that they will use throughout their lives.

    The library has a total collection of 6,905 books, related to various subjects such as English, Maths, Accountancy, Economics, Commerce, Business Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer, G.K, E.V.S, General Science, History & Civics, Geography, Social Studies, Drawing, Atlas, Physical Education, Tamil, Malayalam, French, Hindi, Sociology, Home Science, Political Science, English Fiction and Non- Fictions, Reference Books and Question Bank Books.

    Library has a total collection of 27 magazines related to G.K, Sports, Science, Current Events and Kids World.

    Library also has a collection of 7 daily national newspapers of various languages.

    Library has a collection of previous year’s Question papers for students’ & Teachers’ Exam related reference

    Competitive exam books are available in the library for students to prepare, higher educational Entrance Exams and other career-related exams.

    Suggestions are welcomed and suggestion Register is kept for the same.

    Books are classified and arranged according to the Dewey decimal classification system (D.D.C).

    The library also provides online reading facilities and has e-books.

    The library activities are computerized and an online catalogue is available.

  • DIGITAL LIBRARY

    Library Software -: We use Entab campus care software for the Library (https://shism.campuscare.info/).

    Online e-books -: Students and Teachers can read books online through campus care. Open chrome --> https://shism.campuscare.info/ --> your user name and password --> Academics --> library --> search --> collection name --> drop-down menu --> select books --> from the extreme bottom select ‘e-Books’ --> click Display.

    Online Book Reservation -: Students and Teachers can reserve the library books online through campus care. Open chrome --> www.shismcampuscare in --> your user name and password --> Academics --> library --> Task --> reservation --> in member field select student --> in student field enter your name --> your profile with display --> in reservation details field --> enter book title --> finally click save --> you reserved your book successfully.

  • Library Hours

    8.15 am to 5.00 pm (Monday to Friday)
    8:15 m to 3.00 pm (Saturday)

  • Entitlement for Issued Books

    Teachers: 4 Books (One Month)
    Other Staff: 4 Books (One Month)
    Students of std IX – XII: 02 Books (Fourteen Days)
    Students of std IV – VIII: 01 Book (Fourteen Days)

  • Roster for Students to Issue and Return the Books

    Std IV – VIII: Library Period
    Std IX – XII: Monday to Saturday

  • RULES AND REGULATIONS TO BE FOLLOWED IN THE LIBRARY
    1. Maintain silence inside the Library.
    2. Students must have an ID, a Note and a purpose to be in the library.
    3. Register whenever you enter and exit the library.
    4. Students are expected to be respectful of themselves, others, and the space (i.e. Work quietly).
    5. Handle all library materials with care.
    6. Never cut, tear, or write on any library materials.
    7. Leave the library hall in the same condition, as it was when you entered.
    8. Arrange the chairs properly, which you sat before you leave.
    9. Special permission may be needed for students to work together.
    10. Eatables are not allowed in the library.
    11. Readers should vacate their seats, 5 minutes before the closing time of the library.
  • CIRCULATION POLICIES
    1. The member is responsible for all the books taken in his / her name.
    2. The member will have to produce his / her ID card at the time of borrowing books.
    3. Return or renew books on time.
    4. Books may be renewed only if they are brought to the library.
    5. The librarian is empowered to recall books at any time if the necessity arises.
    6. Reference books, are to be used only in the library.
    7. Issue of books may be refused to the defaulters.
  • OVERDUE MATERIALS
    1. Students with an overdue book will not be allowed to take additional materials until the overdue book is returned.
    2. A fine of Rs. 1 per day will be levied for late return.
    3. Students are responsible for any books checked out in their names.
    4. Reminder will be sent for books that are overdue for a month or more.
    5. Books overdue by three months are considered lost and require immediate payment for replacement.
  • LOST MATERIALS
    1. For any lost book the amount can be deposited for replacing the book or can be replaced by the student with the same title or a similar title with the permission of the librarian.
    2. If a book is damaged, minor repairs will be done but students who have damaged items beyond repair should pay the replacement cost of the book
