SACRED HEART INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SECURITY MISSION

Any Campus must be protected from safety and security risks and hazards, irrespective of threats originating from internal or external sources. Peace and safety should be maintained round-the-clock. Every member of the SHIS Community within the SHIS campus will bear an onus of responsibility so that each person, all material and the properties of SHIS are safe and secured. It is now the right time for us at SHIS to understand that we need to come together and strengthen our safety and security. We cannot afford to be complacent, so far as safety and security aspects are concerned. These are now global issues and have surpassed all geographical boundaries.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

SHIS is taking necessary steps to enhance overall security management in the main campus. SHIS strives to focus on protecting all students and staff. A security policy has been developed to enable SHIS security staff to perform their duties with fairness and consistency.

Our Security policy outlines certain procedures to be followed on SHIS campus.
1. Staff and students are requested to wear their identity cards to ease identification by security staff. Security is provided round-the-clock at the campus.
2. The Safety and Security Department monitor issues related to school safety and security. Necessary prevention programs like Fire Evacuation, Lockdown and Bomb Threat are developed and periodically reviewed to assist school and administrators in evaluating school safety. It also provides training in security and safety to its guards and other staff.
3. The campus sees a security booth at every exit point.
4. SHIS also takes a strong stand against drug and alcohol abuse, along with a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying. In addition to dorm parent mentoring, a school counselor is available to assist troubled students.
5. Local police are also at hand in case of any unforeseen irregularities and respond quickly to contact.

  • CCTV in school premises and classrooms:

In today's world, security is an increasing priority for schools. CCTV is now being used to reduce bullying by placing cameras at strategic locations. When an incident occurs, a teacher can review the footage and identify the culprit or culprits. Some schools are using CCTV footage as an evidence to show the parents of misbehaved students that their child has a problem. The entire campus of SHIS, as well as each and every classroom is equipped with continuous CCTV surveillance to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. The cameras are linked to a central monitoring system where every child is assessed regularly. This makes the entire process completely transparent so as to avert any untoward event.

  • Effective Fire-fighting system:

For the security and safety of the students an effective firefighting system has been installed with smoke detectors. Experts have been invited to guide the students and management in learning appropriate emergency processes.

  • Buses with CCTV:

Authorities of Sacred Heart International School have installed CCTV cameras and GPS in all school buses with proper recording facilities. The cameras have been strategically placed in the front, middle and rear sides of the school buses to ensure maximum coverage. Surveillance cameras give the school authorities the ability to keep a check on the students when they are out of school premises while travelling to school or back home. Each bus has a helper and a female attendant who look after the children.

  • SMS Service:

There is SMS service that keeps the parents informed about the curriculum regularly followed in the schools, and keeping them informed about their children progress in the classroom. It also updates the parents with their child’s attendance. This serves an important way for the parents to communicate with the school authorities. Also, parents can talk to teachers of any subject over phone numbers provided by the schools at stipulated timings.
